Another poster design for the Sheffield Steel Rollergirls (they do keep me busy!). This time a classic B Movie theme was the order of the day. After tackling new ground with The Thing digital piece, I felt confident to attempt the required cityscape scene that any self respecting monster movie poster requires. I tried to work in a few Sheffield landmarks and realised that painting buildings (more specifically the windows) is a real time consumer but it really needs that detail to sell the sense of scale of the giant brides. I’m still working on interesting lighting techniques so this was a chance to under light the brides with the raging fire below. A big thank you to Reynold Brown and others (many of whom went uncredited) for their amazing poster art of the 40s and 50s.

Nice to get back into the live art, can't believe it was July last year since I'd done it last! Had some really nice comments on this piece, mainly concerned with how much I can get done in the 3 hours. It's great to see a piece through in such a short time, especially when canvas work (often done as part of a set) can take months from inception to exhibition. Great atmosphere at SOYO too, a well deserved winner of Best Bar Night at the recent Exposed Awards.
