Just found out that my Wilhelm von Homberg piece was featured on Ghostbustersnews.com. Big thanks to the guys responsible for the exposure. As so much of my work is created for the fans of the particular reference, it's great to get my work out to who (I hope) appreciate it the most.
I'm just off to check it's not featured on Planetoftheapes.com
So after about 3 months work, my first solo exhibition is currently on display in The Forum in Sheffield. I'm really pleased with how they turned out as I think I managed to pull off what I set out to do. I found a scribbled note in a sketchbook the other day that just said "Colour gradient across all canvases" (written some 4 months ago) and now that I can finally see all eight pieces side by side on the wall I'm happy to tick that off!
A big thanks to everyone who helped me get this show together. I really couldn't have done it without the support around me!
The good news is that five of the eight have already sold! Limited edition prints of the work featured in the show are now available HERE.
As you may have noticed I've added a shop section to the site [HERE]. Once up and running fully this will offer prints of the work included in the Lost in the 80s exhibition (as well as the originals and older works). As the canvases for the show are just over 100cm high I wanted the prints to try and capture some of that scale so I'm producing the prints at 50cm by 70cm. Check back soon as I plan to launch them in the shop as soon as they're up on display this coming Sunday.
If you're out and about in Sheffield you might notice the poster for the show in various bars and shops. Vigo is everywhere and he sees all, you have been warned!
A friend of mine mentioned that he'd seen a write up of the Lost in the 80s show in Exposed magazine - another local free monthly listings mag. I have to be honest, I thought he'd gotten confused and was referring to Toast (see previous post) but after a quick check of the current edition of Exposed in question, lo and behold he was right!
I'd emailed Exposed weeks ago to let them know about the exhibition but I'd not heard anything back! Thanks for the inclusion guys, I'm off to check The Guardian now....I never contacted them but you never know!
Big thanks to Toast Magazine - a free Sheffield listings mag. If you check out the November issue you'll find a little write up of the Lost in the 80s show as well as a full page ad featuring the Vigo poster for the show! Kind words about my work and a bold advert should help get people down to The Forum for sure! As for the show itself, all's going well so far. Its been a busy few months (and an even busier 2 weeks!) but it looks like I'm on schedule to have the show I originally envisioned! Waiting for the prints to arrive and setting up an online shop are my tasks for this week, oh and catching up on some sleep - all the while drinking entirely less red bull!
