Epic day at Tramlines@SOYO on Sunday! This time I was working on a 6ft by 4ft board and had the whole day to work on it. Took me the whole day (about 7hrs) to finish it and by the end I was feeling various aches and pains from kneeling down to work on the lower half. Another successful use of pastels and letting the natural colour of the MDF show through for the skin tones. Great atmosphere working with the other artists as part of Stars In Stripes and a great soundtrack of the bands playing throughout the day.
More live art at SOYO but this time it's an 'all dayer'! In conjunction with this years Tramlines Festival a collection of artists, including myself, will be creating all sorts of live art from 1pm onwards! Just take a look at that all-day line up of fun, you'd be a fool to miss it!
Great night at SOYO last night as quite a few people were showing interest in what I was doing. I think having the previous weeks work (Peter Cushing) on display next to where I was working seems to draw peoples attention. All in all I managed to sell this piece while I was working on it and potentially have another few jobs lined up as well! As my friend pointed out, the biggest surprise of the night was just how many Trek fans are lurking out there! Resistance is futile!
Been a week of good news with confirmation of my solo show in The Forum in November and my first legitimate sale! Of all the piece to sell I find it pleasing to think it's the Johnny Lawrence piece 'No Mercy' that's out there in 'the wild'! I know he can take care of himself!
The funny thing is that the piece almost never made it! When sketching out ideas and planning my content for the Child's Play exhibition, there was a period were a Johnny Lawrence piece seemed a little too obscure and that without the more central characters of The Karate Kid around him, the reference might be lost on many. So glad I saw it though and that others share my fond memory for the character.
